Charlotte Boyd Eldridge was a popular singer from Washington, D.C.  She led the effort to sell war bonds during World War I, and in that capacity became the first female to ever fly in an army airplane.  Though it is unclear exactly how they were introduced to one another, she nonetheless married Dr. Chandler in 1920, and they immediately set out on a lengthy tour of Europe. They returned to Chandler in early January 1921.  Charlotte suffered from severe health problems, and after 16 years of marriage she passed away in 1936.

She appears in the 1925 and subsequent Chandler City Directories as the wife of Alexander J. Chandler.  They lived at the San Marcos Hotel. See also Charlotte Boyd Chandler. The 19301931 and 1932 directories also said they lived at the hotel.
