1930s Dust Storm = Synoptic Scale - horizontal length of 1,000 kilometers or more
1930s Dust Storm = generated by a strong cold front passing through

Haboob = Mesoscale - horizontal length of 5 kilometers to a few hundred kilometers
Haboob = thunderstorm collapses as winds move against the path of the storm
