-Mr. DeWitt is a rancher living south of town.

He was kicked in the mouth by his horse the other day. A gash was cut in his lower lip, and several of his front teeth jarred loose. He is feeling better at the time of this writing, but firmly believes in the pulling power of one hind hoof. (Chandler Arizonan 8/1/1913)

-Mr. DeWitt and his wife were on vacation at the Granite Reef Dam when their son, Kenneth, got sick with typhoid fever. Their two sons were left at home while they were away. When Mr. DeWitt reached Mesa, he received word about his son and rushed home. (Chandler Arizonan 8/15/1913)
