Halstead, J. K.
Mr. Halstead and 12 other men dined at Bob Plenty's food house where they ate quail and cottontails on Monday. Other diners included S.S. Bradley, F.V.N. Dana, J. Cashman, Turner Jr., Mr. Hibgen, J.T. Reese, Claude Hanna, B. Chisholm, C. Zeiger, Stanley Darrow, Frank Newman, and G.H. Binkley. (Chandler Arizonan 1/31/1913)
Mr. Halstead is the manager of the local lumber company.
He was charged last fall of bootlegging, but has now been found not guily due to lack of evidence.
A warrant had been out for Mr. Glancey, who operated the pool hall at the time, but quickly departed the city.
Mr. Halstead had supplied the lumber for the building, and was holding ownership until Mr. Glancey could pay him for it.
After hearing the evidence, the case was thrown out before any witnesses were heard including testimony from R.M. Turner, H. Callahan, M.P. Freeman, Mr. Rush, and Mr. London.
Mr. Halstead was pressured to pay the fee, but decided to fight the case. (Chandler Arizonan 4/11/1913)
