He appears in the 1917 , 1918 and 1919 Chandler City Directories  as a farmer. The 1918 directory gives his middle initial as V., instead of W.

-Mr. Johnson attended a party hosted by Louise Kohlmeyer for the "500" club.  It was an informal party held at the home of Mr. Wolf on Thursday.  Others who attended were Grace and Ruth Johnson, S. Darrow, Claude Hanna, and Harold Callahan.  (Chandler Arizonan 1/31/1913)

-Mr. Johnson went swimming at the Granite Reef Dam, last Sunday, with his friends O.W. Berg, Jack Gilbert, and Lester Jaycox.  Mr. Jaycox and Mr. Johnson were swimming on one side of the stream with the other two on the other side.  Mr. Jaycox nearly drowned when he went out too far.  Mr. Johnson rescued him.  (Chandler Arizonan 5/16/1913)

-Last Thursday, Mr. Johnson was thrown a surprise birthday party for his turning into manhood.  About 15 people showed up, and he came out to greet them.  The party moved inside where the inimitable wit of Joe Cashman and the droll stories of Claude Hanna kept the party convulsed.  Cards and other forms of amusement  kept them busy into the late hours.  Refreshments were served.

The surprise present was a pair of gold cufflinks, and it left him speechless.

-Mr. Johnson with his sisters, Ruth and Grace, and others went to the Granite Reef Dam on Sunday for a picnic party.  The girls brought lunch, and the boys went swimming in the afternoon.  Other attendees were Ralph and Lester Jaycox, Will Moore, Lee S. Parke, Madge Peeler, and Bee Peeler.  They were chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Morris.  (Chandler Arizonan 6/6/1913)

-Mr. Johnson says he ate the first local watermelon, last Sunday, which was grown on their place.  It tipped the scales at 19 pounds, and he says it was a sweet one.  (Chandler Arizonan 6/27/1913)

-Mr. Johnson has received a promotion from the Chandler Improvement Company.  He was made office assistant in the head offices of the company.  The duties will be combined with his hotel timekeeper position.  (Chandler Arizonan 7/4/1913)
