Landers, Courtney Blocher

Courtney Blocher Landers was a 2004 graduate of Chandler's Valley Christian High School, where she excelled in volleyball.  She transferred to VCHS from Coronado High School prior to her junior year.  She played for legendary coach Deanna Anglin at VCHS, and won state championships in both years she attended the school (part of 11 straight state titles for VCHS and Coach Anglin).  The 1999 Valley Christian High School Volleyball Team, which won the state title and finished ranked #5 nationally, was inducted into the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame on February 11, 2012.  Courtney was the leader of the team, and was rewarded with an Honorable Mention All-American award and was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year.  She chose to attend Arizona State University on a scholarship, part of a recruiting class that included three other VCHS players.  Courtney had a very successful career at ASU as a utility player, playing nearly every position on the court.  She helped the team to two NCAA Tournaments, was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team twice, and finished her career ranked #10 in career digs at the school.  Courtney went on to be a teacher and coach at Chandler High School, and married Danny Landers.  She was inducted into the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame on February 9, 2013.
