Yarbrough, P. A.

-Mr. Yarbrough made the highest bid at the cattle auction Wednesday with $76 for a jersey cow.  (Chandler Arizonan 5/16/1913)

-Mr. Yarbrough came to Chandler about a year ago from Texas, and has charge of 80 acres of cotton.  He has a wife and three children, and is well-liked. 

After an arguement with William Dingus, Mr. Yarbrough shot the man in his right arm near the elbow.  He claims that it was self-defense.  Mr. Dingus was shot seven to eight times.

Mr. Yarbrough went to county officials on Sunday to speak to them about the situation.

Mr. Yarbrough tells the story in an interview .  Mr. Dingus had been working for him and wanted to quit.  Then suddenly got abusive to a point it scared Mrs. Yarbrough to effect her health.  He was ordered out of the house, but instead of leaving picked up a chair with the purpose of using it.  Mr. Yarbrough picked up his gun, and Mr. Dingus backed out of the house, but he kept coming back in.  This forced Mr. Yarbrough to use his gun. 

He regrets what happened, but would do it again to protect his family and home.

He was arrested by five deputy sheriffs on Tuesday.  He was taken to Phoenix where he refused examination, and paid $1,500 in bonds to be released.  He returned home Wednesday night.  (Chandler Arizonan 6/13/1913)

-Assistant County Attorney Clyde M. Gandy and Constable James T. Murphy were in Chandler last week investigating Mr. Yarbrough's case.  Mr. Yarbrough is being accused of assault with intent to kill.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/8/1913)

-He appears in the 1917, 1918 and 1919 Chandler City Directories as a farmer.
