Navarrete, Raul

Raul Navarrete served as a City Councilman March 1966 to March 1972, and again from March 1976 to 1979.  He was elected to two two-year terms as Mayor, serving March 1972 to March 1976.

Raul was co-captain of the 1941 and 1942 Chandler High School football team that won two conference titles in a row. He also ran track and was placed second at State in the mile where his school record held for 16 years. Raul was later instrumental in the development of youth sports leagues in Chandler.  For his athletic accomplishments and contributions he was inducted into the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame in the Class of 2006.

Raul served in the United States Navy during World War II.
