Parke, Lee S.

Lee S. Parke appears in the 1923 Chandler City Directory as an agricultural teacher at Chandler High School. He and his wife Agnes (a domestic science teacher also at Chandler High School)  lived on Arizona Ave. L. S. Parke also appears in the 1925 directory. The 1930 directory, though, referred to her as his widow.

-Mr. Parke was invited to write his views on the subject of local co-operation for more and better cultivation by the Chandler Arizonan.

"When a point is reached that public opinion is aroused, then let one or two or half a dozen leaders call a meeting and perfect an organization," said Mr. Parke.  (Chandler Arizonan 1/17/1913)

-Mr. Parke was elected to the Board of Directors for the city of Chandler  for the Maricopa Farmers' Institute.  (Chandler Arizonan 3/7/1913)

-Mr. Parke was chosen as secretary of the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association.  He has pledged to grow a certain amount of cotton.  Also was named to a committee to go to Mesa to work with their association.

At the second meeting, he brought it to order with Lembke being absent.  He then was appointed to the Advisory Board which later will become Board of Directors.  At the end of the meeting, he gave a dollar to become part of the stock list.  (Chandler Arizonan 3/28/1913)

-Mr. Parke has called a meeting of the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association for Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  (Chandler Arizonan 4/18/1913)

-Mr. Parke was elected secretary of the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association at a meeting held last Sunday, where by-laws were written and elections held.  (Chandler Arizonan 4/25/1913) 

-Mr. Parke attended a meeting of the Little Moonbeams last week.  They played "500" and had a light lunch.  Others who attended were Harold Callahan, Lester Jaycox, Louise Kohlmeyer, Will Moore, Ruth, Grace, and Paul Johnson.  (Chandler Arizonan 5/2/1913)

-Mr. Parke went to the Granite Reef Dam on Sunday for a picnic party.  The girls brought lunch, and the boys went swimming in the afternoon.  Other attendees were Ralph and Lester Jaycox, Ruth, Grace, and Paul Johnson, Will Moore, Madge Peeler, Bee Peeler, and chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Morris.  (Chandler Arizonan 6/6/1913)

-Mr. Parke went to Mesa with other directors of the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association to meet with the Mesa Cotton Exchange.  They wanted to reach a deal on ginning or an erection of a gin to no avail.  Then they met with the Chandler Improvement Company.  (Chandler Arizonan 6/13/1913)

-Mr. Parke attended a party for Robert Merrell's sister, Clara.  They started out at the Johnson's home, then to the Jaycox ranch, and then to the Merrell's home.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/1/1913)

-Mr. Parke resigned Sunday from the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association.  He has accepted a position with the U.S. Reclamation Service.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/8/1913)

-Mr. Parke visited Chandler on Sunday, and was modest about his new position with the Reclamation Service.  His position will be as crop statician.  He will be gathering information on what the farmers needs are in the Valley.
