“1972 served off coast of Vietnam on a Destroyer, USS Rupertus DD851 for 8 months as an Engineman and Small Boat Engineer in support of Operation Linebacker north of the DMZ. Then was re-assiged to a Troop Landing Ship USS Duluth LPD 6 where I spent another 6 month tour off the coast of Vietnam. My final and 3rd tour was again on LPD 6 off the coast of Vietnam with our final duty there was in support of Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of Saigon and South Vietnam.” -brief biography of military service submitted by Robert Willeford
