-Mr. Smith will plant ten acres of fruit trees, mostly peaches of the Elberta variety.  Several acres will be used for drying purposes.  He believes there is a market for dried peaches.  He will also set out a family orchard.  (Chandler Arizonan 3/14/1913)

-The Smith home consists of a pleasant cottage, pump house, a garage, and a chicken house. 

He has set out ten acres of trees with 500 Elbertas, 300 Muirs, 80 Saraways, a number of Champions and Burbank plums.

In the orchard north of the house, he is planting four acres of cotton  between the rows, while in the orchard south of the house, he is putting in cantaloupes and watermelons.

The homeplace is about 40 acres with 30 in alfalfa.  He has two tanks that hold 4,000 gallons of water.  One of them for rainwater.  There are sleeping quarters in the pump house.

They have about 130 acres total.  He has 40 acres north of his place, another 40 acres one half mile northwest, and ten acres a short distance west.  The homeplace touches the townsite, and is only a few blocks from the San Marcos Hotel.

-Mr. Smith was at a meeting of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce where he spoke in favor of giving the deeds to the settlers.  He told of how mortgages would allow them 18 months instead of six month before being thrown off the land for lack of payment.  Also if land is sold for more than owed they get the difference.

-Arontu Povuro was injured while working for Mr. Smith when a horse team ran off.
