Mrs. Smith has 50 prize winning Rhode Island Reds. "Lady" a handsome hen is laying 15 eggs. The parent stock were imported from Rhode Island at a cost of $35 for the cock, and $8 each for the hens.Â
In addition to the Reds, she has 60 thoroughbred Plymouth Rocks and about 60 mixed chickens. Her intentions are to raise fancy stock for exhibitions and sale purposes, and she will also sell thoroughbred settings. At present she has three pens. She will make note of the sales for each pen to decide which breed suits the climate of Chandler best.
