He appears in the 1918 Chandler City Directory as a post office clerk. His wife is Lesbia. In the 1919, 1920 and 1921 directories, he appears as a mail carrier. They lived on California St.

The 1923 and 1925 directories said he was a R. D. carrier and identified his wife as Leslie. They lived on California St.

The 1926 directory said he was a postal carrier, his wife was Lesbia and that they lived at 346 N. California. Bertha M. Tate and Lucille Tate lived with them.

The 1929 and 1930 directories  said Charles, Lesbie and Lucile lived at 385 N. California. He worked as a postal carrier.

The 1931 and 1932 directories said Charles and Leslie A. lived at 385 N. California and that he was a postal carrier.

C. F. Tate appears in the 1932 Phoenix Telephone Directory, Chandler section,as living on a ranch west of Chandler, with the phone number 63-J2.
