Dave Van Gorder excelled in both basketball and baseball while at Chandler High School, however it was in baseball that he received All State Honors. Out of high school, Dave attended University of Southern California where he earned All-American Honors for the National Champions in 1978. He played professional baseball for 9 years for the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles.  Dave was inducted into the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
