Vincent, Adam

Adam Vincent graduated from Hamilton High School in 2004, where he played baseball and football.  Adam excelled in both sports, winning two state championships (2003 and 2004) with the baseball team as an outfielder and pitcher.  As a senior, he was rewarded with selection to the All-Region team.  On the football turf, Adam followed his older brother, Joey, as a leader of the John Wrenn coached Hamilton High football juggernaut.  His senior year he was named Fiesta Region Defensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Arizona, 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-Region, and 1st Team All-East Valley.  He ended his Hamilton career as the school's all time leader in tackles and tackles for loss.  Adam received scholarship offers to play middle linebacker at Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, UCLA, and UTEP.  He decided to attend ASU, where he red-shirted as a freshman.  He played backup as a red-shirt freshman, but had a break-out game in the 2005 Insight Bowl, recording 9 tackles in just one half of play.  Because of coaching and position changes, he decided to transfer to UTEP after that season.  He got plenty of playing time at UTEP, becoming a tackle machine.  His senior year he ranked #2  in Conference USA and #25 nationally in tackles, recording 9.2 tackles per game.  He earned 1st Team All-Conference honors that year and was a finalist for the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year.  Unfortunately, he suffered what ended up being a career ending injury in the final game of his senior season.  He tried a comeback, signing a contract to play for Denny Green in the United Football League, but the injury kept him from being able to compete.  Despite this setback, Adam was inducted into the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame on February 9, 2013.
