Wheaton, Markus

Markus Wheaton is a professional football player who plays wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 2009 graduate of Chandler High played one year of football at Chandler after transferring from Mountain Point High School. His standout senior season at Chandler included 37 catches for 736 yards and 4 touchdowns, while rushing the ball 29 times for 304 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was a well regarded college football prospect coming out of high school, and chose to attend Oregon State University.

Markus' Oregon State career was one for the record books. When it was all said and done, he was listed in the top ten in career receptions (227, #1), career receiving yards (2,994, #3), career recieving touchdowns (16, 6th), career 100 yard receiving games (11, #3), single season receptions (91, T#1), and single season receiving yards (1,244, #6). Markus earned numerous awards, including several All-PAC12 Conference selections, and was a http://cbssports.com 3rd Team All American.

Markus' stellar college career led him to be selected in the 3rd Round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. His rookie campaign was slowed by injuries, but he still managed to play in 12 games, starting 1, and making 6 catches for 64 yards.
