Finding Home: FSA

To fill the need for housing and work for people in Arizona, the Resettlement Administration, later Farm Security Administration (FSA), built apartments and established farm. The housing featured thirty-two low-cost apartments available for rent. A 320-acre farm for dairy cows and chickens surrounded the apartments. Full-time work on the farm was available to some of the residents while others were employed just part-time. Dorothea Lange and Russell Lee both captured the apartments and farm in Chandler. These images filled the departments need to capture propaganda images showing FSA programs in use.
