02: Monumental Architecture: Evidence of a societal collapse

Collapsed societies like the Mayans and Rapa Nui (Easter Island) left behind monumental architecture that inspires wonder and curiosity.  These abandoned architectures often have a haunting quality causing modern-day visitors to question how these societies could collapse after such great achievement. 

Even Arizona has monumental architecture left by a collapsed society: the Hohokam.

Could we be forced to abandon our own cities?  Could we fall victim to a human created ecological disaster?
