Mexican Methodist Church
With oral history from Esperanza Vidal Moncivaiz, this church was made by its own members. As of 1928, there were no Spanish speaking churches to attend, even if most of the Hispanic families in Chandler were Catholic. Mr. Brewster and Mrs. Christina Vidal (Esperanza’s mother) held home prayer meetings. The neighbors called them names and threw rocks at their window.
With the help of Mr. Brewster and folks from Los Angeles, the church members were able to purchase three lots of land. The parish house was built first. This is where church services were held until the church was completed.
