Arizona Ostrich and Emu Breeders Association
Arizona Ostrich and Emu Breeders Association
This association is dedicated to informing, supporting, and gathering people who work with ostriches and emus. Hatching, raising, and slaughtering these birds is a large part of the lives of the breeders in this association. They hold gatherings with selected speakers to share stories or educate the audience. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the ranch.
In 1993, a large importation of these birds came into the country. Arizona was a popular place for breeders to come and settle with them, and this caused the industry to increase. Breeding ostriches and emus became a much more credible line of work, newcomers brought more exposure, and with the additional birds in the state, the market for their meat increased.
