Bank of Chandler
The bank appears in the 1916 and 1918 Chandler City Directories. In the 1918 directory, Alexander J. Chandler is listed as president, and Pleasant M. James as cashier.
The 1919, 1920 and 1921 directories list  Dr. Chandler as president and Clarence A. Baldwin as cashier. The bank was at the corner of San Marcos Place and Commonwealth Avenue, 8 S. San Marcos Place.
The 1923 and 1925 directories said Dr. Chandler was president; E. J. Koch, vice president;  Clarence A. Baldwin, cashier; F. E. Burridge, assistant cashier, and F. H. Bouton, insurance department manager. The 1925 directory said Burridge was cashier and Bouton, assistant cashier.
1926Â directory: A. J. Chandler, president; E. J. Koch, vice president; F. E. Burridge, cashier.
1929 and 1930 directories: A. J. Chandler, president; F. H. Bouton, cashier. Address, 35 W. Boston. The 1931 directory just said Dr. Chandler was president and gave the same address.
An ad in the 1920 directory called it "the bank of service" and said it had "capital $50,000."
The building was built in 1912 by Dr. Alexander Chandler originally to house the Chandler Improvement Co. The Bank of Chandler shared the building until 1925. The Bank of Chandler merged with the Arizona Bank, which was announced in the March 19, 1931, edition of the Chandler Arizonan.  It later housed Valley National Bank for more than 50 years. In 2013, it was the site of SanTan Brewing Co.
The Bank of Chandler will be open for business either Monday or Tuesday. It is being run by R.M. Turner.
All the supplies came from Denver on Wednesday. A new burglar proof safe has been installed.Â
Mr. Turner got active and plans to use the Morrison building for temporary use on Commonwealth Ave.  S.M. Turner, his son, will be assistant cashier. (Chandler Arizonan 1/31/1913)
It opened with great success on Monday and meeting the expectations of Vice-President R.M. Turner. Over $8,000 in deposits were handed over.  Joe Cashman was the first to get a pass book with Mr. Sherwin of the meat market got a close second. 50 deposits were made and more expected as farmers can get into town and transfer the money from Mesa and Phoenix banks. (Chandler Arizonan 2/7/1913)

Plans and specifications for the new bank are in the hands of R.M. Turner, cashier, and Knipe, architect from Phoenix.

The lot for the new bank building has been cleared by George H. Binkley. The building contract has been let to M. Tull.

The bank has taken in over $35,000 in deposits in two months. Only a week ago it was $30,000. There are 130 individual depositers. Mr. Turner says it is the most remarkable growth he has seen in all of of his years banking. (Chandler Arizonan 4/4/1913)
The bank was chosen as treasurer of the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association at a meeting held last Sunday where by-laws were written and elections held. (Chandler Arizonan 4/25/1913)

The Bank of Chandler has been named a county depository of the county's funds. The county will deposit certain funds for roads, schools, and other sums as decided by the treasurer's office. It will be in porportion to other depositories. (Chandler Arizonan 5/30/1913)

The fixtures for the new location of the Bank of Chandler has arrived. The work of installing began Wednesday with E.E. Watson in charge. The furniture is a light oak and resembles walnut in color. The design is simple, but adds to the beauty. The room is mostly taken up by the space for the teller and other employees. The lobby is wide and spacious.
Right under the east window towards the south is the cashier's desk, and Mr. Turner's quarters. Seats and stands for customers are located on the north wall at convenient intervals. A footboard of marble covers the bottom of most of the furniture walls.
In the rear of the building is the directors' office fitted with table and chairs of the same wood as the rest of the bank. The huge vault is directly south of these quarters. These are accessible by the lobby and banking room.
