Rogers, Jimmy
Jimmy Rogers was a football player who starred at both Hamilton High and South Dakota State University. Rogers attended Hamilton High in the early 2000's. He recorded 320 tackles, 16 sacks, and 8 interceptions in his high school career while leading Hamilton to two state championships. He was named the Region Defensive Player of the Year his senior season and was voted a spot on the All-State team at linebacker. Top Guns Magazine rated Rogers as the best linebacker in Arizona; his production and his leadership ability certainly gave credence to this lofty ranking.
After high school, Rogers elected to continue playing football at South Dakota State University. His stellar play continued at the collegiate level. A four year starter for the Jackrabbits, Rogers led the conference in tackles his sophomore year. He was selected to both the Great West League All-Academic and All-Conference teams. He was a second team All-Conference player his junior year. A captain his senior season, he help South Dakota state earn its first ever FCS playoff berth while earning honorable mention on the All-Conference team. He was also once again Academic All-Conference for the second time in his career. He finished his career with 312 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 interceptions. He set the South Dakota State record for most tackles in FCS play for a career. He was named to the school's All-Time team in 2011, cementing his reputation as one of the greatest linebackers the Jackrabbits had ever produced.
Upon graduating, Rogers remained at South Dakota State as a Graduate Assistant coach. After a brief stint at Florida Atlantic University in 2012, Rogers returned to his alma mater and is the team's current linebackers coach.
