O.S. Stapley, Inc.
The O. S. Stapley Inc. was listed in the 1921, 1923, 1925 and 1926 Chandler City Directories as a store selling hardware and farm  implements. It was located on Boston Street near Arizona Ave. It was part of a Mesa based chain that also had stores in Mesa and Glendale.
Chandler resident Clyde A. Roberts was listed in the 1921 (1923) Chandler City Directory as manager of O. S. Stapley. .
The company built a building (63 E. Boston?) but nearly doubled its size in 1945 when a large addition was added to the east. Stapley sold all kinds of hardware, but appliances, too. You might have come here to buy your very first Magic Chef range top stove.

An ad in the 1923 directory said it offered International tractors, trucks, implements, P. & O. plows or "everything in farm equipment."
The 1926 directory said L. E. Stapley was manager.
The 1929 directory said Henry Egly was the manager and that the business was at 46 E. Boston.The 1930, 1931 and 1932 directories gave  the same informaiton and added Tel 107.
It appears in the 1932 Phoenix Telephone Directory, Chandler section, as selling hardware. Phone number was 107. Henry Egly was also listed as living on north California, with the home number 144. An ad said it offered "Tractors, Harvesting Machinery, Wagons, Plows, Tillage, Tools, Harness, Shelf Hardware, Paints and Oils."
