Chandler Arizonan
A long time newspaper in Chandler.
The 1916, 1917, 1918, 1919, 1920 and 1921 Chandler City Directories list S.A. Meyer as the editor and proprietor. The 1921 directory said the address was 109 W. Commonwealth (also 1925, 1926)
The 1923, 1925 and 1926 directories said Park R. Mitten was editor and publisher and that Charles A. Mitten also worked there.
The 1929 directory listed P. R. Mitten as editor and C. A. Mitten as business manager. It was at 109 W. Commonwealth Ave.
The 1930, 1931 and 1932 directories called both Mittens publishers or owners and said the Arizonian was at 75 W Commonwealth Ave.
The 1932 Phoenix Telephone Directory, Chandler section, said the newspaper could be reached at number 32. The 1940Chandler Resident Directory said R. L. Williams was the owner and that it was on the south side of west Boston beyond south Arizona. Phone number was 32.
An ad in the 1920 directory said it offered "neat job printing, classified ads that pull, resultful advertising. These are the three things that have built the livest weekly newspaper in the Salt River Valley, the Chandler Arizonan '$2.00 a year and worth it'."
-The Arizonan would like information on successful growing of alfalfa, intelligent use of irrigation, and the proper way to handle the soil.
Samuel A. Meyer becomes the new editor of the Arizonan.
The office has been removed to the building at Arizona and Commonwealth Avenues in the old hotel office of Robertus Plenty. It is located across from the new hotel building.
Everyone is welcome to make the office their headquarters. Farmers can leave packages in their care as they do their shopping, while strangers can use it as an information bureau.

-The offices played host to both Chandler baseball teams to discuss a baseball league with Mesa, Tempe, and Phoenix. Decision was made to find out if cities could handle a club, and start work organizing as soon as possible. (Chandler Arizonan 2/7/1913)
-The boys and girls of the Chandler school will be writing for the newspaper. Each month new editors will be choosen from those that are to be worthy. The child who writes the best article will receive one dollar.
The first editor will be Miss Hayden Russell, and the first city editor will be Edgar Black. (Chandler Arizonan 2/21/1913)
-The office of the newspaper has been removed to the back of the San Marcos Hotel.
It took about 20 head of horses to move the building. They were hitched to the front of the building, and then dragged it by force to the new location on Monday morning.
It now resides northwest of the hotel, and at the cross streets of Buffalo and California.
The order was given by Chief Binkley, and led by Foreman Blackshere of the Chandler Ranch. (Chandler Arizonan 4/4/1913)

-Last week's edition was a day late due to a breakage in the press. Out of town subscripers didn't receive until sometimes this week. The damage was repaired, and the paper will come out as usual unless another unavoidable accidents occur. (Chandler Arizonan 4/11/1913)
-The Arizonan will host the meeting of the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. (Chandler Arizonan 4/18/1913)
