-Mr. DeWitt was home with his brother, Kenneth, when his brother became ill with typhoid fever. Their parents were on vacation at the time at the Granite Reef Dam. He notified Dr. Jordan, who diagnosed it as a mild case of typhoid fever. The doctor left Mrs. Bland to care for his brother, and made the home like an improvised hospital until the parents came home. (Chandler Arizonan 8/15/1913)
