Quarty, John Jr.

John Quarty, Jr., or Johnny, was the son of John and Angelle Quarty.

Quarty, John Michael
57, passed away at his Chandler home on July 13, 2009. In 1952 John was born to parents John Harrison and Angele Centlivre Quarty, who owned and operated the San Marcos Resort and Country Club during its heyday. A true son of Chandler, John literally grew up on the golf course and developed a passion for the sport that lasted his entire life. While his father owned and operated the hotel, John spent many years managing the golf course and running the pro shop. Among his many golfing achievements, John drained an incredible 9 holes-in-one and, in 1999, set the course record at the San Marcos with a round of 60, breaking the prior 20 year old record of 61. John's record round still stands. Possibly his greatest talent on the golf course was his ability to throw a club as far as he hit the ball!! In addition to his avid love for golf, John's dearest passions were his family and the time he spent on and off the course with his buddies. The happiest years of John's life were those he spent with his grandchildren, becoming a doting and beloved 'Bompa'. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Harrison and Angele Centlivre Quarty. He is survived by his wife Shari, whom he was with for 34 years, daughter Angela and her husband Brandon Carnahan, son Rick and his wife Emily Kimling, and five grandchildren; Shari Fontaine, Gabrielle Dianne, Riki Leigh, Jessica Ferrell and Brandon John, as well as his cousin Rita Albright. John was loved dearly by his family, all of whom will miss him greatly. (Johnny: I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places. I love you, Shari) A visitation for family and close friends will be held 9-9:30 AM Monday, July 20 at Bueler Mortuary 14 W. Hulet Dr. Chandler. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 230 W. Galveston St. Chandler. Burial will follow at Valley of the Sun Cemetery.
