- Chandler Museum
Since 1961, an F-86d interceptor aircraft has been on display in Chandler. The plane represented the relationship between Chandler and nearby Williams Air Force Base. For many years it was on display in the northeast corner of Dr. A.J. Chandler Park. In the late 1980s the park was renovated and the jet display was moved to the southeast corner of Delaware Street and Chandler Boulevard. This corner had a significant connection to the jet - it was on this corner that a shelter was built for the use of airmen waiting for a ride from Chandler back to the base. In 2021, the jet was moved to Chandler’s new Veterans Memorial at Veterans Oasis Park, where it serves as a central feature of the memorial. The jet is on loan to the City of Chandler from the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
