W. E. Thompson is listed in the 1940 Chandler (Arizona) Resident Directory as owner of the Chandler Rummage Store. He and his wife Martha lived on the north side (rear) of east Boston beyond Arizona.

He also appears in the  same directory as an agent at Help-U-Self Laundry.
