First Presbyterian Church

This church was organized on June 12, 1949 under the leadership of the late Rev. Claude L. Morton. The first members worshipped in a building at 181 N. Washington.

In the fall of 1924, the Presbyterian Church Board of Education, based in Philadelphia, approved the plans for Chandler University. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding the university never came into existence.
