He is listed in the 1916,  1917, 1918, 1919, 1920, 1921, 1923, 1925, 1926, 1930, 1931 and 1932 Chandler City Directories  as a carpenter. His wife was first identified as Mollie. and then  Mary E..

The 1920, 1921 and 1923 directories said they lived on Dakota Street. Also living in the house, according to the 1920 directory,  were  Glenn M. Chitwood, Mabel Chitwood, and Nora Chitwood, 

The 1923 directory said Cliff C. Chitwood and Mabel lived with them.

The 1926 directory gave their address as 210 N. Dakota, and said Mabel and Philip Chitwood lived with them.

The 1929 directory gave the same address and said Mabel also lived with them. The 1930 and 1931 directories directory said Charles and Mary lived at 219 N. Dakota. The 1931 and 1932 directories said Mabel and Philip also lived with them.

C. R. Chitwood appears in the 1932 Phoenix Telephone Directory, Chandler section, with the home phone number 109.
