Martinez, Julio
Julio Martinez, Jr. made his name in boxing. As a fighter he lost only once, and that was his last match. He stayed involved in the sport of boxing his whole life. He played a role in getting Carl Moyes, founder of Swift Transportation, to sponsor professional boxer and Chandler legend Zora Folley. He also formed the Chandler Boxing Club and built a boxing ring with his own money. He took several of his young protégés to Phoenix Madison Square Garden to compete. His son, David, pursued a boxing career and won 2 state heavyweight championships. In receiving this honor for his contributions to Chandler athletics, Julio becomes the fourth generation of his family to be honored by the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame.
