Rotary Club

Rotary Club

This club began in 1934 when a number of interested Chandler businessmen who met in session came to the conclusion that a local service organization could be started, and which would benefit, not only the local area, but themselves as well. It became a new part of an international group of Rotary Club members.

One of the first projects of the club was the undertaking of the procurement and installation of lighting facilities for the local Chandler High School Football Field. The, at the time, young members of the club are responsible for installing the lighting system by hand.

Notable figures that have spoken in the Chandler Rotary Club are Paul Harris, founder of Rotary, architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and Sen. Barry Goldwater, R-Ariz.

The first president was Glenn Windbigler. A new president was selected yearly.
