Popular Store
This dry goods and clothing store appears in the 1920, 1921 and 1925 Chandler City Directories. Proprietors were Serrano Bros. It was located on Arizona Avenue near Boston.
Brothers Albert and Luis Serrano opened the Popular Store at 41 E. Boston in 1920 and expanded it to other parts of the East Valley. They operated the stores until the late 1970s when they turned to the Mexican restaurant business. For a picture of some family members, see Serranos .
The 1921 directory said Serrano Bros. consisted of Albert P. Serrano and Louis P. Serrano.
The 1929 directory said the store was owned by L.P. Serrano and Bros. and was a department store at 26 E. Boston, with Tel. 110. Branches were located in Gilbert and Casa Grande.
It appears in the 1931 directory as being at 26 E. Boston, owned by L. P. Serrano & Bros.
