-Miss Johnson with her sister, Ruth, and brother, Paul, went to the Granite Reef Dam for a picnic party with several others on Sunday.  The girls brought lunch, and the boys went swimming in the afternoon.  Other attendees were Ralph and Lester Jaycox, Will Moore, Lee S. -Grace and Ruth Johnson brought in a cantaloupe to the Arizonan office where it could have been found to be the largest ever in the valley.  The melon weighed 7.5 pounds, and measured nine inches from stem to stem, and 24 inches in circumference.  Though unusual in size, it was fairly sweet and finely flavored.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/8/1913)
