-Grace and Ruth Johnson brought in a cantaloupe to the Arizonan office where it could have been found to be the largest ever in the valley. The melon weighed 7.5 pounds, and measured nine inches from stem to stem, and 24 inches in circumference. Though unusual in size, it was fairly sweet and finely flavored. (Chandler Arizonan 8/8/1913)
