He is listed in the 1917 , 1918 and 1919 Chandler (Arizona) City Directories as a farmer and in the 1920 and 1921 directories as a rancher.
The 1923 and 1925 directories said Gus Johnson had the address R. D. 1, Box 28. The 1930, 1931 and 1932 directories just said Gus Johnson lived on Route 1.
Gustav Johnson appears in the 1940 Chandler Resident Directory as retired, living at the Plaza Hotel.
Mr. Johnson is Chandler's milkman.
He got blood poisoning in his right hand from an unknown source. His entire arm was affected. The hand is now doing better, but Mr. Johnson says it does make it inconvenient for milking. (Chandler Arizonan 6/13/1913)
