Mr. Peabody works with Dr. Chandler to get funding for a state highway that would connect Phoenix to Tucson, and asks the people of the town to help grade the road once it has been cleared to Higley by February 15th.  He wants people to inform of how many days and livestock they are willing to donate to the cause.  (Chandler Arizonan, 1/17/13)

-Returns last Wednesday to Chandler from his trip through the south.  He believes there can be enough white laborers if given enough inducements like leasing land for next year.  Also believes that 25,000 acres of cotton will be planted next year.  Half will come from southern Oklahoma, a quarter from central and northern Texas, and the last quarter from the Yazoo Delta.  He doesn't believe many will come from the Memphis area due to being heavily in debt.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/1/1913)

In Dallas, he met with the Murray Gin Company, and Western Engineering Company for necessary ginning and oil expellor machinery.  In Memphis, he met with the Farmers' Gin Compress Company about their compress if they can convert it to electricity.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/1/1913)

-On his trip through the south, he stopped in Kansas City to visit family.  For the first time, he met his grandmother who is 97 years old.  She was glad to welcome her son's son, but was afraid for Mrs. Peabody being left alone in the wilds of Arizona to be tomahawked by Indians.  His grandmother has all her faculties, and still keeps posted about the news better than her daughter.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/1/1913)

-Resigns from his position as Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, and as manager of the Chandler Egyptian Cotton Growers' Association due to his becoming assistant manager of the Chandler Improvement Company.  He will be in charge of setting up of the cotton gin, and leasing land to the cotton pickers coming in the fall with 120 inquiries already.  (Chandler Arizonan 8/8/1913)
