Lucas, Chase

Chase Lucas attended Chandler High School from 2011 to 2015 and was a running back on the football team as a junior and senior. When he was a junior, the team won their first State Championship since 1949, and the next year, Lucas was selected for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Lucas went to Arizona State University from 2016 to 2021, playing from 2017 to 2021 as a cornerback. As a freshman, he was selected for both the USA Today All-Freshman Team and the All-Pac-12 Conference Second Team. His performance improved, and as a senior he was elected for the 2021 Athlon Sports Preseason All-Pac-12 First Team and All-Pac-12 Conference Second Team. As a graduate student in 2021, Lucas was the team captain, won the Third Time Pac-12 All-Conference honoree and Frank Kush’s Captain’s Award, and became the only ASU player to win 5-0 against the University of Arizona in his career.

Lucas played professional football with the Detroit Lions from 2022 to 2023 and signed a year contract with the San Francisco 49er’s in 2024.

Chase Lucas was inducted to the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame in 2026.
