21. Sprouse-Reitz Building

The buildings along East Boston Street are the youngest we’ve seen today, having been built in 1924.  The corner building, where the lingerie store is today was at one time the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.  In 1940, Western Auto Supply moved in, and then in 1946, it became the Sprouse-Reitz.  Sprouse was what you might call the dollar store of its day, at the time boasting that nothing cost more than 49 cents.
