Intel is the world’s largest semiconductor chip manufacturer. When Intel first came to Chandler in 1980, they manufactured computer memory devices, but quickly became the most profitable hardware supplier to the PC industry. Mayor Jim Patterson and several Chandler City Council members were instrumental in enticing Intel to invest in Chandler. Intel in Chandler now consists of two campuses and two office buildings. At their state-of-the-art facilities, Intel manufactures microprocessors.

Chandler’s Intel campuses now represent all of Intel’s business worldwide, including planning and logistics, assembly/test and development, packaging development, corporate environmental health and safety, product research, development, venture capital, and sales and marketing.

In spring 2021, Intel announced a $20 billion expansion of their operations in Chandler.
