Mickelson, Carl
Carl Mickelson is an Olympic hopeful swimmer who attended Chandler's Hamilton High School and the University of Arizona. Â During his time at Hamilton, Carl achieved a 3-peat in the 100m breast stroke, winning the event as a sophomore, junior, and senior. Â He also racked up numerous all state awards for his performances. Â As a senior, he set both the school and state record in the 100m breast stroke event at 56.35. Â He holds four other Hamilton High records: 200m medley relay (1:35.40; 200m individual medley (1:56.22); 100m butterfly (50.99); and 400m free relay (3:14.33).
Carl attended the University of Arizona where he was a member of the swimming and diving team all four years. Â He won the Pac12 Championship in the 200m breast stroke as a sophomore and as a senior, and won the Pac12 Championship in the 100m breast stroke as a senior as well. Â Four times he earned All-American honors - 2010 Honorable Mention in the 200m breast; 2011 Honorable Mention in the 200m breast; and 2012 1st team in both the 100m and 200m breast. Â He set the University of Arizona records in both those events, though both records have since been eclipsed.
At the 2012 US Swimming Olympic Trials Carl competed in both the 100m and 200m breast stroke events. Â He finished 32nd and
