10. Granite Reef Diversion Dam
Heavy floods in 1905 destroyed the diversion dam for all the canals on the north side of the Salt River. This prompted the United States Bureau of Reclamation to purchase the northern canal system and build a new diversion dam that would serve all the canals both north and south of the river. Construction on the diversion dam, known as Granite Reef, began in 1906 and was completed in 1908. After its completion, this dam became a popular tourist destination.
