Haagsma, Greg
With 666 career wins, Greg Haagsma ranks fourth all-time in career wins among Arizona boys basketball coaches and is the second winningest active boys basketball coach in the state.
An eight-time Coach of the Year, Haagsma has led his teams to the Arizona state championship game eight times, winning six state titles. Â He holds a career record of 666 wins and 200 losses through his 30 years of coaching - all in Chandler at Valley Christian High School.
Haagsma led the girls program from 1991-92 to 1996-97 before taking over the boys program at Valley Christian. His first boys team finished with an 11-15 record but since then, every team has finished the year with a winning record. His teams have set several conference records and he has seen dozens of his student-athletes continue their athletic careers collegiately.
Haagsma also led the Trojan Baseball program from 1992-2001 and then again for a season in 2003. He also currently serves as the school’s athletic director, taking over for Chandler Hall of Fame inductee Marlin Broek in 2012 and has served as a mentor to coaches across the state.
