He appears in the 1929 and 1930 Chandler City Directory as a gardener at the San Marcos Hotel. His wife was Kathleen, and they lived at 202 W. Boston. The 1930 directory referred to his job as greenskeeper.
The 1931 and 1932 directories said William A. Day and Kathleen still lived at 202 W. Boston. The 1932 Phoenix Telephone Directory, Chandler section, said William Day had the home phone number 108.
In the 1940 Chandler Resident Directory, he is listed as the head gardener at San Marcos. He and Kathleen lived on the north side of West Boston beyond Dakota and had the phone number 108. Fred Day and Albert Day also lived there.
 William Day also also appears as a World War II veteran.
