Richardson, Eric

Eric Richardson is the head coach of the girls track and field team at Chandler High.  His early coaching career began in 1990 with the Arizona Cheetahs as sprint development coordinator. He coached several national champions and a large number of national finalists. In 1995 he began working as Asst. Head Coach at the Arizona Boys Ranch, where his teams in 1995 and 1996 won the 3A East Region Championships and 3A State Championships. He started as the Chandler High Head Coach (Explosive Events Coordinator) for the boys and girls track teams in 1997. During this time he coached five athletes that made USA National teams: Will Claye, Bryce Lamb (Texas Tech), Terra Evans, Jasmine Todd, Hannah Carson (Texas Tech) and Ky Westbrook. Ky Westbrook went on to be a World Champion in the Youth 100 meters. He coached five Gatorade Track and Field Athletes of the Year, including Joshua Jordan, Bryce Lamb, Hannah Carson, Jasmine Todd and Ky Westbrook. He has coached three Individual State Record Holders and 1 State Record Holder Relay Team. Under his leadership the CHS Boys team won five Boys State Championships, with three runner ups. Under Richardson, the CHS Girls team has won nine consecutive Girls State Championships.

He won the 2010 NHSACA Region 8 Track & Field Coach of the Year award and was a 2010 National Coach of the Year finalist. He is a 4-time Arizona Girls Track & Field Coach of the Year.
