01: Arthur Burnett Benton, Architect

Arthur Burnett Benton, a renowned Southern California Architect known for his Mission Revival Style, was hired by Dr. A. J. Chandler to design the Hotel San Marcos. Benton is known for two other major hotels, the Riverside Inn in Riverside, CA; and the Arlington Hotel in Santa Barbara California. The San Marcos Hotel is the only known Benton building outside of California.
