The 1916,  1917, 1918, 1919 and 1921 Chandler (Arizona) City Directories list him as a rancher or farmer.

The 1929 and 1930 directories said he was the Justice of the Peace, working at 198 S. Arizona. He lived at 107 N. California.

The 1931  and 1932 directories also said he was justice of the peace but lived a mile and a half northwest of the city.

He appears in the 1932 Phoenix Telephone Directory, Chandler section, as living on a ranch west of Chandler, with the phone number 77-R3. A separate listing for the Justice of the Peace said to call 123.
