-Mrs. Walter L. Smith, who lives a mile north of town, entertained the Santa Maria Ladies last Wednesday at her home.

The main entertainment was music, and then refreshments were served.

Among those who attended were Mrs. Carlton Taylor, Mrs. Ables, Mrs. J.F. Mallory, Mrs. D.M. Arnold, Mrs. Frank Smith, and Mrs. George C. Smith. (Chandler Arizonan 2/28/1913)

-Mrs. Smith has gone home to Santa Maria to see her very ill mother, Mrs. Collins. Mrs. Smith is expected to stay for several weeks. (Chandler Arizonan 3/28/1913)

-Mrs. Smith's mother, Mrs. Emma Collins, passed away on Sunday last at her home in Santa Maria, California. She was only 46 years old. All her children were with her when she died. She endeared herself to her friends with her Christian fortitude and faith.
