Arnold, Fred

-Mr. Arnold is the landscape gardener for the Chandler Improvement Company.  He has been busy this past week setting shade trees along Commonwealth ditch.  The poppies he set in the circle south of the plaza are up and doing well.  (Chandler Arizonan 3/14/1913)

-Mr. Arnold has a garden near Mesa where he raises garden truck items and flowers of all kinds.  Last Sunday, he brought into Chandler the first picking of sweet peas and several roses.  He also brought for some friends heads of lettuce.   (Chandler Arizonan 4/11/1913)

-Mr. Arnold gave Mrs. Meyer a large bunch of sweet peas that he grew at his garden in Mesa.  (Chandler Arizonan 4/25/1913)

-Mr. Arnold is a leading member of the American Florist Association.  While reading their magazine, he noticed an inquiry on the transportation of ferns.  He sent a response to the inquiry, and received a note of thanks.  The note was thrown to the side while he was busy 900 trees and shrubs on the plaza south of the San Marcos Hotel.  Later he went back to the note which had included a job offer to work at her nurseries called Ramona Nurseries in Shorb, California, which is near Pasadena.  He decided to respond back.

Soon letters were being passed back and forth including a proposal of marriage.  Mr. Arnold put in his resignation, and left Saturday for Los Angeles.  He was met at the depot by his bride-to-be, Mrs. M. Roedder, and Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Bradley, former Chandler residents.  The couple was married on Monday.

Mr. Arnold says he will be back in the fall to take plant orders that he has been promised.  (Chandler Arizonan 6/6/1913)
