14. Hospital District #1

In 1958, Chandler residents were the first in the state to form a hospital district. Hospital District #1 financed, constructed and owned Chandler’s first hospital, Chandler Community Hospital, pictured above.  Opened in 1961, the hospital was located at the corner of Chandler Boulevard and McQueen Road and served Chandler until 1984.  That year they opened Chandler Regional Hospital, which became affiliated with Catholic Healthcare West in 1999.
