24. Esber Building

Next to Serrano’s was Albert Esber’s store.  Esber was a Lebanese merchant who opened his dry goods store in direct competition with Serrano’s.  He called his “The Bargain Store,” boasting, “You will find quality, style and price to suit you. Convince yourselves of the actual savings you can make by trading at Esber’s Bargain Store.”  In 1960, the building was occupied by Tibshraeny’s, a Western Wear store run by the Lebanese family of former Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny (1994-2002).
